Pavanamuktasana
Wind Relieving Pose

Foundations of Posture:
  • Begin on your back, legs extend.
  • Press down into your left leg and heel and draw your right knee in towards your chest, interlacing your fingers and placing them in the space between your shin and knee.
  • Flex out through both feet as if you were standing on the ground.
  • Press your right knee into your hands so your arms are straight (this opens the hips creases and arches the lower back).
  • Keeping as much of the natural arch in your lower back begin to draw the right knee in towards your chest using your arm muscles - aligning your knee with your right shoulder.
  • To release: Allow the right leg to meet the left and then repeat drawing the left knee up.
