| Foundations of
Posture: |
- Begin by stepping your feet apart
so when you extend your arms, your wrist are directly above your
feet.
- Turn your right foot out 90
degrees and turn your left foot in about 15 degrees. Your right
heels should bisect the arch in your left foot.
- Hug the muscles of your legs 3 dimensionally
around the bones and isometrically squeeze your legs
together. Note: Isometrically means to scissor your legs
together and engage the inner thigh without moving your
legs. This will help give you a stronger foundation for your
posture.
- Draw the arches of your feet up
and extend through the crown of your head.
- Inhale raise your arms to be
parallel to the ground.
- Exhale, bend the right leg so the
knee is directly over the right foot and the thigh comes parallel
to the ground.
- Place the right elbow on top of
the right leg and the left arms extends rights past the left ear.
- Pause and feel the stretch from
the left leg up to the left finger tips while keeping the left
shoulder blade flat on the back. Then place the right arm
behind the right leg on the ground. (Note: If this is
challenging, see modification image below with block).
- Draw the head of the left leg bone
back as you tuck the tailbone forward.
- Turn your head to look up at the
inside of your left arm and continue to revolve the torso up
towards the sky revolving from your armpit, not the tips of your
fingers.
- To release: Exhale bring
both arms parallel to the ground as you straighten your upper
body. Then straighten the front leg by pressing down into
the foot. Continue on the other side to balance out.
