Krounchasana
Heron Pose

Foundations of Posture:
  • Begin in Trianga Mukhaikapada Paschimottanasana on your left leg - right leg extend in front of you.
  • Bend your right leg into your chest and in place one hand on each side of your foot.
  • Keep the back straight and shoulder blades hugging in close to the spine, exhale and begin to straighten the leg by reaching through the heel to a diagonal corner above you.  Go to where you can maintain a straight spine.  If you can not maintain a straight spine, keep the knee bent or use a strap around the ball mounds of your right foot and keep reaching through your heel.
  • Once your leg is straight and your back is tall, exhale and begin to bend the elbows and use your upper arm muscles to pull your foot in towards your head.
  • To Release: Exhale, release the right leg and switch sides.
