most readable commentary on one of the preeminent Tantric
scripture of all time. - John Friend | renowned hatha

YF.com Review:
Truly profound and most extraordinary book. This is a
must-have for any teacher or student who would like to
expand their hearts. Thomas Coburn writes in the cover
of the book: Swami Shantananda has here composed a
remarkable exploration of the spiritual life, a narrative of
the fundamental activity in the cosmos, God's expansion and
contraction, within the external world and within each one
of us. The text on which he writes is among the most
important in Kashmir Saivasm.
Kashmir Saivasm is deeply
rooted in the belief that it affirms our divine nature...the
divine splendor of the self and the divinity of everything
in nature. That everything and everyone is worthy of
the love and respect of the Divine. Just by having the
awareness of the self, we can create paradise in this very
life...or enlightenment right now. This "paradise" is a
place where we live from the heart and support a culture of
kindness and mutual support of generosity and humanity in
one another.
This book is heavily based
on the text Pratyabhijna-hrdayam (translated: Heart
of Recognition) which supports the journey of the soul.
This scripture helps us to understand the gifts we've been
given on the spiritual path. It is the recognition of
one's own deepest nature, the heart of one's being.
This book affirms that on
our spiritual quest, nothing need be rushed - everything
unfolds in front of you in its own time. Studying
scriptures can serve as a vantage point to help us through
difficult moments, and as a foundation for an understanding
that can help us turn our experience of life into knowledge
and that knowledge into wisdom and joy. Once we
understand the nature of our being, we can always make the
right effort to experience it; but without understanding,
even if we have the experience, we won't cherish it.
Pratyabhijna-hrdayam
is a scripture that has 20 Sutras. Included with this book
is a CD that reviews the pronunciation for more concise
understanding and perhaps to invite them into your
meditation.
